Can JAM Group Co. customize blends, and what about lead times?

Yes. We tailor viscosity grades, VI targets, and additive packages to OEM or application requirements, with pilot samples available for approval testing. Typical lead times depend on grade and vessel space; MOQs are flexible by pack type. Batch consistency is maintained through QC checkpoints and retained samples for traceability.

How does JAM Group Co. supply base oils and finished lubricants?

JAM Group Co. offers Group I–III cuts and selected synthetics, plus engine and industrial oils. Standard packs include bulk, ISO-tank, IBCs, and 208-L drums. We support EXW, FOB, CFR, and CIF terms, provide COA/SDS and product data sheets, and coordinate port bookings, palletization, and temperature-aware handling for reliable deliveries.

How do applications influence base oil choice?

Heavy-duty engines may favor Group II/III for oxidation stability and soot control; passenger car synthetics often use Group III/IV for fuel economy and low-temperature flow. Greases may blend Group I/II with esters for pumpability. Metalworking fluids value low viscosity, narrow cut, and hydrolytic stability to balance cooling, lubricity, and cleanliness.

Which properties matter most when selecting a base oil?

Key parameters include viscosity and viscosity index (temperature response), pour point and CCS (cold start behavior), volatility/NOACK (oil consumption), oxidative and thermal stability (life), and cleanliness—saturates and sulfur levels. Compatibility with additive chemistries and seals also matters, ensuring the finished lubricant maintains film strength, resists deposits, and protects components.

How are base oils classified?

The API groups define base oils by saturates, sulfur, and viscosity index: Group I (solvent-refined), Group II (hydrotreated), Group III (high VI, often hydrocracked), Group IV (PAO synthetics), and Group V (esters and others). Higher groups generally offer better oxidation stability, lower volatility, and improved low-temperature behavior, enabling longer drain intervals.

What is base oil and why is it important?

Base oil is the primary component of lubricants, providing the film that separates moving surfaces. Additives are blended into base oils to tailor properties like detergency, anti-wear, and oxidation control. Together they become engine oils, industrial lubricants, greases, and metalworking fluids used across transportation, manufacturing, and energy sectors.
